The Flash: Someone’s Getting a New Superpower
Team Flash began as one guy with super-speed and his well-meaning but non-powered friends. Now The Flash is chock-full of speedsters, universe-hoppers and assorted other meta-humans. Looking ahead at this season, it appears as if yet another member of the cast will gain superpowers, at least temporarily.
With “The Trial of the Flash” bearing down on our heroes, it seems like they have trouble enough. But based on the description of the Jan. 30 episode “Honey, I Shrunk Team Flash,” the very human Cecile will deal with superpowers of her own. A temporarily psychic Cecile would seem to be a recipe for all sorts of shenanigans. Will she discover Joe’s secret insecurities? Will Cisco think of something embarrassing? Probably both.
THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MEN — A meta who can shrink anything he touches battles Team Flash. Cisco (Carlos Valdes) and Ralph (guest star Hartley Sawyer) get caught in his crossfire and are shrunk to miniature versions of themselves. Cecile (guest star Danielle Nicolet) realizes her pregnancy has caused her to have temporary powers and discovers she can hear other people’s thoughts, which unnerves Joe (Jesse L. Martin). Meanwhile, Barry (Grant Gustin) meets someone with a mysterious connection to Henry Allen. Chris Peppe directed the episode written by Sam Chalsen & Judalina Neira.
Looking at this, it’s clear that psychic Cecile won’t be the only problem. Ralph teaming up with Cisco and becoming tiny can only lead to tension between the two. Barry delving back into his father’s past will only dredge up old feelings. The big villain may no longer be a threat this season, but that doesn’t mean that Team Flash will be getting a break.
Returning Tuesday, Jan. 16, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, The Flash stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Jesse L. Martin, Tom Cavanagh, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Panabaker and Keiynan Lonsdale.
