Avengers 3 & 4 Feature 76 Cast Members, Says Chris Hemsworth

Directors Joe and Anthony Russo teased in 2016 that Avengers: Infinity War and its still-untitled sequel could feature 67 characters, only to quickly clarify that number as “figurative.” But some two years later, star Chris Hemsworth suggests that number may be a bit low.

While discussing the conclusion of his Marvel Studios contract and his potential future as Thor, the actor placed the number of cast members in the two films at 76. “There are 76 cast members in these two Avengers films,” Hemsworth told USA Today. “They will be the biggest films of all time, far bigger than my character. It’s a conversation for further down the road, if it was going to happen.”

Hemsworth’s Infinity War co-star Anthony Mackie also referenced the scope of the films over the weekend during an appearance at ACE Comic Con in Arizona, where he recalled shooting a scene with 40 Marvel superheroes on set at the same time.

Avengers: Infinity War will hit cinemas on May 28. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the film stars Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Anthony Mackie as the Falcon, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Tom Holland as Spider-Man, Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, Chris Pratt as Star Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Vin Diesel as Groot, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, and Josh Brolin as Thanos.

Avengers 4 is scheduled for release on May 3, 2019.
