Brie Larson Visited an Air Force Base in Preparation for Captain Marvel

Brie Larson recently visited an Air Force base to prepare for her upcoming role in Captain Marvel. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is set to get much bigger in the next two years. Black Panther comes out in just a few weeks, and Marvel Studios has two more Avengers films on the horizon, as well as Ant-Man & The Wasp. The latter will be Marvel’s first film to give a female co-billing, but it will be Captain Marvel that delivers the first MCU female solo movie. Oscar-winner Brie Larson is taking on the lead role of Carol Danvers, and will be directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck.

Fans of Marvel comics have been waiting for Captain Marvel to come to the big screen for some time. She was considered back for Avengers: Age of Ultron, but her solo movie will be her first appearance. Carol’s incredibly powerful abilities are just part of the reason to be excited, as Captain Marvel also should dedicate some time for her origin. That will include her days in the Air Force, and it looks like Larson is in deep preparation mode.

Captain Marvel fan account CaptMarvelNews uncovered a post on Instagram by Don Wallace that shows Larson visiting the Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada. Larson is completely suited up for the day with a full flight suit. It isn’t clear what exactly Larson is doing at the base, but it appears to be for research purposes. Larson is set to get familiar with a F15 fighter, so that should be an indicator we will see Carol piloting one at some point in Captain Marvel.

If this is just prep, it is just the latest step in Larson’s transformation to become Captain Marvel. Larson has been signed on to play the role for over a year and a half, and she’s already shown she’s diving into the lore to best understand Carol. But, going as far to visit an Air Force base and meet actual pilots just goes to show the lengths she is going to to do everything in her power to get the character’s debut right.

There is, however, the chance this isn’t just prep and Larson actually is filming a few scenes already. It has been reported before that Captain Marvel would have a small shoot in early January before production officially begins in March, so Larson could be doing that. Since that isn’t confirmed, it is safer to believe this is just prep at this point. Hopefully, the trip delivered for Larson and she’ll be able to take what she learned and apply it to the film. If nothing else, its just great to see Larson meeting with real-life members of the Air Force so she can properly represent them in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
