Jessica Jones is Under Arrest in New Season 2 Images

The first season of Jessica Jones was a dark, brooding psychological drama. Season 2 will pick up some months later, and according to the official synopsis Jessica has earned something of a troubled reputation. After all, she’s the ‘enhanced’ human who snapped a guy’s neck, then claimed he was controlling minds. Jessica’s desperately attempting to put the pieces of her life back together, but seems to be haunted by her past acts.

Netflix has released new photos from Jessica Jones season 2. This time around, it looks as though Jessica will find herself on the wrong side of the law.

It’s hardly a surprise to see that the police are interested in Jessica. The mood in New York City is turning against vigilantes, and Jessica has a reputation as a lethal one. What’s more, while Marvel’s chronology is more than a little confused right now, it’s possible the Marvel Netflix series are nearing the point where the Sokovia Accords are about to be passed. No doubt local police would be under orders to clamp down hard on unauthorized superheroics.

For Jessica, of course, this latest case is personal. She’s actually looking into her own history, attempting to learn the secret of her superpowers. That means she’ll be looking into a dark and dangerous military program to create combat-enhanced soldiers like Will Simpson. What lengths would a shady black-ops group go to in order to hide their actions from a nosy investigator?

The photos give welcome glimpses of Jessica’s supporting cast, including Trish Walker. Fans are deeply invested in this character, not least because in the comics Trish becomes a superhero in her own right. The Marvel Netflix version is very different to the character created by Otto Binder and Ruth Atkinson back in 1944, but it’s quite possible she could eventually suit up as Hellcat. After all, the cast of Jessica Jones are dealing with combat-enhancing drugs, and a massive exposure left Jessica with her superpowers.

But where do these mysterious, not to mention dangerous, combat enhancers actually come from? The first season tied them to a company known as “IGH,” an acronym that sounds very similar to the “GH” drugs used on occasion in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. It’s possible Jessica Jones season 2 could subtly tie in to previous seasons of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., an exciting link between the Marvel Netflix shows and Marvel’s first TV series. Only time will tell.

Jessica Jones will return on Netflix on March 8, 2018.
