RUMOR: Affleck’s Flashpoint Appearance May Be ‘Last Hurrah’ as Batman
Ben Affleck’s tenure as Batman has potentially taken another turn, as it has been rumored that he’ll have one last outing as the Dark Knight in the long-in-development Flashpoint film.
Firmly reported as a rumor by Batman On Film, it’s said that there’s a chance that Affleck will get one last chance to don the famous cowl in Flashpoint or Suicide Squad 2 — the former being in a constant state of flux since losing director Rick Famuyiwa in 2016.
This rumor adds fuel to the theory that The Batman writer and director Matt Reeves is intent on replacing Affleck with another actor, such as Jake Gyllenhaal or Jon Hamm. The report also suggests that Reeves’ planned trilogy on the Bat of Gotham could be set outside of the main continuity of the DC Extended Universe — much like the potential Joker origin movie.
Directed by Matt Reeves, the upcoming untitled Batman film is set to star Ben Affleck as Batman. The film is rumored to include an appearance by Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke (first revealed in a post-credits sequence in Justice League). The film’s premise and story details have not yet been released.
