Jessica Jones Goes to Anger Management in New Season 2 Trailer
A new trailer teases anger management classes for everybody’s favorite superhero PI in Jessica Jones season 2.
Life certainly hasn’t dealt Jessica Jones a good hand. Season 1 introduced the world to the hard-drinking, hard-hitting superhero private investigator. Krysten Ritter’s incredible portrayal wowed fans. What’s more, the dark plot was more like a psychological thriller than your standard superhero adventure. Fan excitement is certainly building for Jessica’s return in March, leading Marvel and Netflix to whet our appetites with a new trailer.
A blend of new footage and flashbacks from season 1, the trailer shows Jessica head to anger management lessons. The whole city knows she’s the superhuman who broke a man’s neck, and her reputation has never been worse. She’s just trying to make a living, and frankly that foul temper looks to be causing problems. When you have the strength to break down a wall, the idea of hitting things when you’re angry just doesn’t work out.
In an entertaining sequence, Jessica describes her backstory – a neat narrative trick to remind viewers just who this character really is. It’s amusing to watch the reactions of the people around. Initially they’re sympathetic, as Jessica recounts how her whole family was killed in a car accident. Then there’s increasing shock and discomfort, as Jessica describes “horrific experiments.” Naturally, it’s when Jessica turns to talking about Kilgrave that she really freaks out.

This serves as more than a reminder of who Jessica is, though. Season 1 dropped a lot of intriguing hints as to Jessica’s origin story. It set up a narrative in which Jessica would investigate the mysterious company IGH, seeking to learn just what was done to her. The trailer gives the context for that journey of self-discovery; Jessica needs to dig into her past, needs to acknowledge the darkness in her history, and accept the truths of who she is. It’s possibly the only thing that can keep her sane.
Meanwhile, the trailer also promises more of the thrills and spills of New York’s only enhanced detective. Jessica certainly brings her own unique sense of style to her work. After all, she tosses out insults with as much ease as she does punches. Those powers are certainly useful in her profession; clips show Jessica settled on the side of a skyscraper, and fans will be more than a little amused to see a classic “superhero landing.”
This trailer also cautions that Jessica is taking on a very dangerous threat. The people she cares about are in real danger – most notably Trish. Season 2 will see Trish aim to become Jessica’s “sidekick”, an acknowledgment that she’s a superhero in her own rights over in the comics. But with IGH pushing back, is it actually safe for Jessica Jones to have a sidekick?
Jessica Jones season 2 premieres Thursday, March 8 on Netflix. Premiere dates for the new seasons of Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist haven’t been announced yet.
