Krypton Teaser Trailer: The House of Zod Shows No Mercy
A new teaser trailer for Syfy’s Krypton shifts the focus from the House of El and the legacy of Superman to the history of General Zod, one of the Man of Steel’s greatest enemies. The trailer introduces viewers to the notorious Kryptonian family with the line, “Kneel before the House of Zod.”
Developed by David S. Goyer and Damien Kindler, Krypton explores life on Superman’s home planet, two generations before its destruction. The series centers on Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe), Superman’s grandfather. Seg-El must fight to redeem the honor of the House of El, after the family name was ostracized and shamed. Krypton is already a world in chaos when Seg-El meets a time-traveling human named Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos) who informs him of a conspiracy to prevent the birth of his grandson. Seg-El is shocked to discover that his grandson will become “the greatest hero in the universe.”
In Syfy’s promotion of Krypton, most of the attention has understandably gone to the House of El and the legacy of Superman, but a short new teaser trailer shows that Krypton is about more than just Superman’s family. The series will also dive into the history of the House of Zod. In the video, fans can see the brutality of Ann Ogbomo’s Alura Zod as she viciously beats another Kryptonian. Alura Zod is the commander of Krypton’s military guild, making her a figure of great significance on the planet.

It’s unclear if Alura and the House of Zod will clash with the House of El, but it’s worth noting that Seg-El is in a forbidden romance with Alura’s daughter, Lyta (Georgina Campbell), who can be seen holding hands with Seg-El in promotional photos for the series.
In the comic books, the House of El has always been the primary focus of attention when it comes to Krypton. For fans, a look into the background of the House of Zod could prove interesting. Exploring the family’s history could help explain why General Zod became such a brutal, merciless warlord.
General Zod holds an important place in the history of the DC Universe. Lex Luthor may be thought of as Superman’s greatest villain, but Zod is a close second. Zod began as an enemy of Jor-El, Superman’s father. Zod’s schemes on Krypton caused him to be sentenced to the Phantom Zone. Thanks to his banishment, Zod survived Krypton’s destruction and after he gained his freedom he renewed his rivalry with the House of El by targeting Superman.
Krypton premieres Wednesday, March 21 on Syfy.
